BOWLING GREEN, Ky – A Bowling Green man, Sony Thomas, 33, was arrested Sunday after allegedly stealing a mini van.

Police reported that an officer on extra patrol at Regency Place Apartments spotted a white mini van reportedly linked to a previous theft of construction items. During a traffic stop, Thomas initially gave a false name and failed to provide identification. He later admitted his true identity.

Further investigation revealed that Thomas was driving on a suspended license and had placed tags from another vehicle on the stolen van. Dispatch confirmed the van was a 2004 Honda Odyssey reported stolen on Sept. 10. The vehicle was impounded after the owner could not be contacted.

Thomas was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail and faces multiple charges, including:

Providing false information to an officer

Receiving stolen property between $1,000 and $10,000

Display of illegal/altered registration plate

Failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance

Operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license

The investigation is ongoing.
