In a major breakthrough, Bicholim police have dismantled an organized criminal gang while investigating a theft at a petrol pump in Sakhalim, Goa. Two youths were arrested, and a minor accompanying them was sent to a protective home.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mahesh Shiv Shetty (19) of Karai and Bhuvan Tilkaraj Pillai (18) of Peddem, Mapusa. Police said the duo is part of a larger gang allegedly involved in multiple vehicle thefts and robberies across Goa and neighboring Maharashtra.
The theft occurred in the early hours of December 28 at the Karapur-Tisk petrol pump. The gang broke into the office and stole Rs 9,000 in cash along with a DVR containing CCTV footage.
The arrests were made during routine night patrolling, and police have launched further investigations to trace other gang members and connect them to similar crimes in the region.
