Rajgarh police have arrested three members of a notorious robbery gang involved in a highway robbery near Mana village under Kurawar police station. The gang has been active across Bhopal and nearby districts, targeting vulnerable individuals.
The incident occurred on the night of June 9-10, when Balram Ruhela, a resident of Boda, was robbed of his motorcycle, mobile phone, and purse by unidentified attackers. A case was filed, and newly appointed Superintendent of Police Amit Tolani initiated a coordinated effort involving local police and technical surveillance teams.
The arrested suspects have been identified as:
Bharat Silawat (26) – a history-sheeter and gang leader
Sunil Ahirwar (18)
Bharat Chauhan (22)
All three are residents of the Karond area in Bhopal.
They were caught near Lakhanwas Higher Secondary School. Police recovered Rs 4,600 cash, a mobile phone, two SIM cards, the victim’s motorcycle, and two scooters, one used in the crime and another confirmed as stolen. The total value of recovered items stands at Rs 2.74 lakh.
According to police, Bharat Silawat has over a dozen criminal cases registered against him in Bhopal, Berasia, Sanchi, and Raisen. His gang specifically targeted elderly and lone travelers on highways.
SP Amit Tolani said, “The accused have confessed to several robberies. Further investigation is underway in multiple districts to uncover the full extent of their activities.”
Authorities are working to trace other possible crimes linked to the gang and ensure swift justice.
