Police arrested two individuals, Batku Shikaka and Lakhan Shikaka, from Kulerpeta village in Rayagada district on Saturday in connection with the murder of Druku Shikaka. The brutal incident occurred last Wednesday in the Niyamagiri hills under Muniguda police limits.
Santoshini Oram, SDPO of Bissamcuttack, confirmed the arrests and revealed that the murder was committed using an axe, allegedly due to a past enmity between the accused and the victim. Authorities recovered the body and conducted a post-mortem examination. The weapon used in the murder has also been seized as evidence.
The police continue to investigate the case as the community reels from the shocking crime.
