Ayarkunnam police arrested a 31-year-old man from West Bengal, identified as Soni S.K. of Dharapara, Murshidabad, on Sunday (October 19, 2025) for allegedly murdering his wife and burying her body near their workplace.
The victim, Alpana Khathoon, 28, also from Murshidabad, was allegedly killed by her husband, who works as a construction labourer in Ayarkunnam. Police recovered evidence that Soni buried her body near an under-construction house where the couple was employed.
Authorities apprehended Soni at a railway station in Ernakulam while he was allegedly attempting to flee back to his hometown. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
