Awantipora Police Solve Theft Case in 24 Hours, Arrest Accused

JCB Excavator Stolen in Pampore Recovered After Swift Investigation

In a swift response to a theft case, the police in Awantipora solved the crime and apprehended the culprit within just 24 hours. The accused was involved in the theft of a JCB Excavator, which had been parked at a petrol pump in Kadlabal, Pampore.

The incident occurred during the night of March 20-21, 2025, when Parvaiz Ahmad Wani from Qazigund Kakapora reported the theft of his JCB Excavator, bearing registration number JK18A-1871. The complaint led to the filing of an FIR (No. 35/2025) at the Pampore Police Station, and an investigation was initiated immediately.

A team of officers led by SHO Pampore, under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, carried out multiple raids at various locations. After gathering solid clues, the investigation focused on a suspect, Mehraj-din-Thokar, a resident of KhaiTangan, Baramulla.

During interrogation, Thokar confessed to his involvement in the crime. With the team’s relentless effort, the stolen JCB was successfully recovered from Baramulla. The accused was arrested and taken into police custody, where he remains under investigation.

The stolen property will soon be returned to its rightful owner once all legal formalities are completed. Authorities assured that they will continue to take strict action against individuals involved in such criminal activities to maintain peace and safety in the area.
