In a significant step towards combating drug-related crimes, the Awantipora Police have arrested two individuals involved in drug trafficking in the Panzgam area. The police team, led by Insp. Bilal Ahmad, the IC of PP Reshipora, conducted a routine vehicular check at the Panzgam Railway Crossing, where they apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam, son of Ab Rashid Hajam, a resident of Newa, Pulwama.
Anees Mohammad, son of Gh Mohammad, a resident of Karimabad.
The suspects were traveling in a Tata Sumo with the registration number JK13A-7136 when they were signaled to stop for inspection. Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 130 grams of Charas-like substance from their possession.
Both drug peddlers were taken into custody and shifted to the Police Station Awantipora. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized. A case has been registered under FIR Number 106/2025, and the investigation is ongoing.
The police continue to take strict actions to curb drug-related activities and maintain law and order in the region.
