The body of 23-year-old S Arjun, murdered over a financial dispute near Hosur, was exhumed from a burial site near Shoolagiri on Tuesday. The police arrested three suspects in connection with the crime: K Sahul Hameed (24) of Ram Nagar, his brother K Saifulla (20), and H Pavan Prakash (23) from Namalpettai, Hosur. Authorities continue to search for two additional suspects.
According to Hosur police, on April 28, Sahul Hameed, a daily wage worker, had kept Rs 40,000 intended for his wife’s delivery expenses in a shared room near Ram Nagar with his friend I Sufi (24). When the money went missing, Sahul confronted Sufi, which led to a heated altercation where Sahul assaulted him. Sufi then informed their mutual friend S Arjun (24), also a daily wager from Rajaganapthy Nagar.
On April 30, Arjun confronted Sahul and Pavan Prakash in support of Sufi, leading to a fight. Following this, Arjun reportedly planned to harm the duo. On May 2, Arjun was kidnapped by a five-member gang, brutally assaulted with an iron rod, stabbed multiple times, and buried at Chennapalli village near Shoolagiri.
Police stated that no complaint was filed for 23 days after the incident due to a family dispute, but S Kannan, a friend of Arjun, finally lodged the complaint on Sunday.
On Monday evening, during a vehicle check in Hosur, police stopped a two-wheeler carrying the three suspects. Upon questioning, they confessed to the murder. The body was exhumed on Tuesday, and an autopsy was performed by the forensic team from Government Krishnagiri Medical College Hospital in the presence of Shoolagiri Tahsildar K Valarmathi and Hosur police officials.
The three suspects have been remanded in custody as investigations continue.
