Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the audacious armed robbery at the Manappuram Gold Loan branch on Sheetla Mata Road. On Saturday evening, five armed men posing as auditors entered the branch, with one disguised as a Sikh and wearing the company’s ribbon to avoid suspicion. The robbers forced staff to close the branch and assaulted employees Shri Krishna, Girendra Sindhu, and security guard Pradyuman Patel with the butt of a gun.
The criminals stole 8.54 kg of gold jewellery, amounting to around Rs 9 crore, along with Rs 8.56 lakh in cash, packaged in 323 packets.
The arrested suspects—Mohan (22) and Sunil (20) from Sonipat, and Rahul (21) from Karnal—were apprehended near Dhankot village on Tuesday. They confessed to committing the robbery with other associates using a Bolero car, which broke down nearby during the escape. Mohan has six pending cases, including an attempt to murder charge.
The accused are scheduled to be produced in court soon. Police continue their investigation and anticipate more arrests and recovery of the stolen valuables.
