In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police have busted a cross-border drug smuggling cartel with links to Pakistan, arresting seven accused and recovering 4.075 kg heroin, 1 kg methamphetamine (ICE), and a 9mm Glock pistol, said DGP Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested individuals are:
Judgebir Singh alias Judge (21) – Jasraur, Amritsar
Jaspal Singh alias Jass (22) – Ajnala, Amritsar
Anmolpreet Singh (19) – Lopa, Gurdaspur
Harpinder Singh alias Bhinda (32) – Sandalpur, Gurdaspur
Tarunpreet Singh (20) – Sandalpur, Gurdaspur
Dawinder Singh alias Bau (33) – Bua Nangli, Amritsar
Mandeep Singh (24) – Bua Nangli, Amritsar
Preliminary investigations revealed that the contraband was smuggled from Pakistan and distributed across Punjab through local networks coordinated via social media.
Operational Details:
Acting on credible intelligence, police first apprehended Judgebir Singh, recovering 225 grams of heroin.
Interrogation and digital communication analysis led to Jaspal Singh, from whom 1.6 kg heroin was seized.
Further arrests of Anmolpreet Singh, Harpinder Singh, and Tarunpreet Singh resulted in the recovery of 2.2 kg heroin. These individuals acted as couriers and distributors under Pakistan-based handlers.
During routine patrolling, police apprehended Dawinder and Mandeep Singh, recovering a 9mm Glock pistol, a motorcycle, and 1 kg ICE.
Criminal Backgrounds:
Judgebir Singh: Previously involved in an attempted murder case.
Jaspal Singh: Facing prosecution under the Arms Act.
Dawinder Singh: Two prior NDPS Act cases; had lived in Dubai for 10 years and developed international drug contacts.
Further investigations are ongoing to trace both forward and backward linkages in this cross-border narcotics network.
