A 23-year-old unemployed youth from Kerala was arrested by Hebbagodi police on charges of stealing women’s inner garments and taking selfies while wearing them.
The accused has been identified as Amal NG, a resident of Hebbagodi. Police said Amal came to the city around six months ago in search of employment and has been staying in a friend’s room. However, he is yet to secure a job.
According to police, Amal would roam around the Hebbagodi area during the daytime and steal women’s inner garments that were hung outside houses or paying guest accommodations.
The accused was caught on Monday after he allegedly stole inner garments from a house in Vidyanagar. The residents noticed the theft, apprehended him on the spot, and alerted a Hoysala patrol vehicle. The patrol staff handed Amal over to Hebbagodi police for further action.
During a search of his room, police recovered around 15 to 20 pairs of women’s inner garments concealed inside a bag. Further examination of his mobile phone revealed multiple photos and videos allegedly showing Amal wearing the stolen garments.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
