BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Mexican national has been sentenced to two years in jail after authorities discovered over 200 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to Kern County Superior Court records.

On June 26, 2024, 48-year-old Adolfo Moreno-Ramirez of Mexico City was pulled over by a Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy on the 2900 block of 24th Street in Bakersfield for multiple vehicle violations. Deputies quickly discovered he had no driver’s license—and 231 pounds of methamphetamine stored in several containers inside the SUV.

Due to the large quantity of drugs found, additional units from the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Gang Suppression Section were called in to assist.

Investigators say Moreno-Ramirez was allegedly transporting methamphetamine from an unknown location in Southern California for distribution and sale.

Court records show he was sentenced to two years in jail and credited with 728 days served, including 364 for good behavior. It remains unclear whether he will serve probation or be released immediately.
