AbdulRahman Hussain Arrested for Hulhumale’ Car Thefts

Police catch man with stolen items, suspected drugs at scene

Hulhumale’, Maldives (June 2025) — A man caught in the act of breaking into parked vehicles in Hulhumale’ has been arrested by police and found in possession of stolen items and suspected drugs.

The suspect, identified as AbdulRahman Hussain, 33, from Orchidmaage, L. Isdhoo, was apprehended during the early hours of the morning near the POLCO flats in Hulhumale’ Phase 1.

Police patrol officers observed Hussain acting suspiciously, attempting to hide something and flee on a motorcycle after noticing law enforcement presence. He was intercepted and detained at the scene.

A search of the area and Hussain’s motorcycle revealed he had broken into nine vehicles, including cars and pickups. Items recovered from the suspect included car and motorcycle keys, cash, mobile phones, and charging cables, all believed to be stolen.

Additionally, police said Hussain attempted to discard a cellophane packet suspected of containing drugs during the arrest. The packet was retrieved in his presence and seized as evidence.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into both the thefts and the suspected drug possession.
