by Ananya Mehta

Pardeshipura police have arrested three persons for stealing jewellery and cash worth over Rs 13 lakh from a resident’s house, with the prime suspect being the complainant’s nephew.

The victim, Jayshree, had traveled with her family to Saptashrungi temple, Jalgaon, for two days. On returning home on October 26, she discovered the rear window open and the locker in her almirah broken. Stolen items included gold jewellery such as a mangalsutra, earrings, rings, bangles, a pendant, and Rs 47,000 cash.

Following her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Pardeshipura Police Station. DCP Kumar Pratik confirmed that a police team led by PSI R D Kanwa, using CCTV footage, local intelligence, and technical inputs, identified Atish Khopde as the mastermind.

Atish, along with friends Rohit Devda and Kartik Prajapat, admitted that they entered the house through the back window while knowing the family was away and broke open the locker to steal the valuables. They reportedly spent the stolen cash on liquor parties. Police recovered the stolen jewellery and arrested all three accused.

Authorities have urged citizens to secure their homes and lockers and report any suspicious activity promptly.
