LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Three suspects have been arrested after a man was robbed at knifepoint outside a Laredo motel early Friday, September 19, according to the Laredo Police Department.

Police responded around 3:48 a.m. to the 4100 block of San Bernardo Avenue after receiving reports of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers met with a man who said two men and a woman had assaulted and robbed him before fleeing the scene.

According to police, the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the motel parking lot when a man approached, pulled out a knife, and demanded his wallet, phone, and cash. The suspects then assaulted him before escaping on foot.

Officers quickly searched the surrounding area and located three individuals matching the victim’s description. When police attempted to detain them, all three tried to flee but were swiftly captured.

The suspects were identified as Thelma Melendez, 20; Carlos Colunga, 30; and James Sosa, 28. Police say Colunga was found with a knife, while Sosa was carrying the victim’s iPhone and wallet.

All three were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity, both first-degree felonies.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding the victim’s condition.
