GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A 19-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught attempting to break into vehicles early Tuesday morning in Grand Junction.
Around 3:45 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) responded to reports of someone pulling on door handles in the 900 block of Gunnison Avenue.
When police arrived, they found a man matching the suspect’s description and identified him as Gage Collins-Conran. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Collins-Conran allegedly tried to flee but was quickly apprehended.
Officers discovered he was carrying stolen property and various financial and identification documents.
Collins-Conran was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and faces several charges, including:
Theft of between $5,000 and $20,000
Criminal possession of four or more financial devices
Criminal possession of identification documents
Tampering with physical evidence
First-degree criminal trespass auto with intent to commit a crime
Third-degree criminal trespass
Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel
He is being held on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 22 at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities say the incident appears to be isolated, though the investigation remains ongoing.
