WALSALL, UK — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with multiple shop thefts as part of West Midlands Police’s ongoing efforts to crack down on retail crime in Walsall and surrounding areas.
Jay Marsh, 34, of Walsall, was taken into custody and charged with 11 theft offences committed in Walsall and Bloxwich. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday, September 8. Details of his court appearance have not yet been released.
Meanwhile, Jamie Cater, 41, also from Walsall, was arrested and charged with two theft offences and one count of assault. Like Marsh, he was remanded for a court hearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court. Further details are awaited.
According to a West Midlands Police spokesperson, the arrests were part of the #SaferStreetsSummer operation—an initiative aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour, street crime, and retail theft in town centres across the UK.
“We also run Operation Marigold, which specifically targets business crime and individuals involved in shop thefts,” the spokesperson added.
The police are continuing to support local businesses with high-visibility patrols as part of the broader national strategy to keep communities safe.
