CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. — Deputies arrested 41-year-old Benjerman Denman of Venice on August 30 following an investigation into vehicle theft and fraud.

Denman faces charges of third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

The investigation began when deputies responded to a Venice residence on August 26 after a victim reported Denman had taken their vehicle without permission and attempted to cash unauthorized checks at a Moravia bank.

Following confirmation of Denman’s involvement, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Denman was taken into custody on August 30, arraigned, and released pending a future court date in Venice Town Court.
