Three Arrested for Armed Robbery of Jeweller Surjit Singh in Kapurthala

Suspects nabbed after attacking jeweller near RCF Kapurthala

Police arrested three suspects on Friday in connection with an armed robbery targeting jeweller Surjit Singh near Gate No. 3 of the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala on the night of June 16.

Surjit Singh, owner of Palak Jewellers, was returning home after closing his shop. Around 8:30 PM, after withdrawing Rs8,000 from an ATM, Singh was ambushed by three men armed with sharp-edged weapons. The assailants struck him on the head, stole his Activa scooter containing Rs25,000 in its storage, and fled on a motorcycle toward Kapurthala.

ASI Davinder Pal of Bhulana police post arrested the first accused, Jaskaran Singh, who revealed his accomplices as Kamalpreet Singh alias Billa and Lovepreet Singh alias Love. DSP Deepkaran Singh confirmed Jaskaran had previously studied the victim’s routine to plan the crime.

The police recovered the stolen Activa scooter, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle used in the crime, a sharp-edged weapon, and Rs3,000 from the suspects, who are now in custody.
