MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. — A prolonged standoff in McHenry County ended Thursday afternoon with the arrest of 44-year-old Patrick Anderson, who is wanted in connection with two residential burglaries at the same home.
Police responded to the initial burglary at a residence on the 1200 block of North Green Street on Monday and returned to the same address Thursday morning following a second burglary. Anderson was identified as the suspect in both incidents.
Following the second burglary, officers went to Anderson’s residence, where he barricaded himself inside and refused to comply with commands. This led to a significant police response and a safety alert urging nearby residents to avoid the area.
Authorities learned Anderson, a convicted felon with a history of resisting law enforcement, may have had access to a firearm. The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team was called in to assist.
After hours of negotiations, officers entered the home and arrested Anderson without injury or incident.
Anderson now faces several charges including two counts of residential burglary (Class 1 felonies), one count of obstructing justice (Class 4 felony), one count of resisting a peace officer (Class A misdemeanor), and one count of criminal damage to property (Class A misdemeanor).
He remains in custody at the McHenry County Jail with court proceedings pending. Police continue to investigate, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
