City police on Monday arrested three individuals, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery of Rs60 lakh that occurred last week in the Murlipura area.
The gang’s suspected mastermind, Tilak Lohia, a habitual offender with multiple robbery and murder cases across several districts, was arrested near a metro station in New Delhi. Police recovered Rs44 lakh in cash from his possession.
According to DCP (West) Amit Kumar, the other two accused have been identified as Ajay Dan, a resident of Sikar, and Archana Singh from Uttar Pradesh.
The accused allegedly gained the trust of the victim, Chandrashekhar, by renting a flat from him and promising a 10% commission in exchange for help with cash deposits. On May 9, they visited his home in Vikas Nagar under the pretense of conducting an RTGS transaction. Once inside, one of them brandished a pistol, threatened him, and the gang fled with a bag full of cash in a car with UP registration.
Chandrashekhar filed a complaint at Murlipura Police Station, providing ID proofs and rental documents previously submitted by the accused. Using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and informant input, police traced Lohia to Delhi. His interrogation led to the arrests of Ajay and Archana.
The investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining cash and identify any other accomplices.
