Rachel Marie Warner, a 23-year-old woman from Las Vegas, has been arrested in Miami for allegedly drugging and robbing a man of his $18,000 Rolex in what police describe as a growing “bad date” scam trend.
According to Miami Police, the victim met Warner near the valet at the East Hotel on Brickell Plaza on April 8. After a brief conversation, the two went up to Sugar, the hotel’s rooftop bar, for drinks. Later, they returned to the victim’s hotel room, where Warner reportedly made him a drink.
The man said he blacked out after consuming the drink and woke up hours later, confused and alone. His Rolex watch was missing, and his phone had been tampered with. Surveillance footage showed Warner leaving the hotel room by herself around 3:30 a.m.
Police say the incident fits the profile of a “bad date” scam—a scheme where women target men wearing high-end jewelry in nightlife areas, gain their trust, and then drug and rob them.
Investigators identified Warner through a public flier and arrested her about a month later. Undercover officers spotted her speaking with another man and intervened before she could potentially strike again.
During her arrest, officers found two eye-drop bottles in her purse containing a white liquid believed to be a drug used to incapacitate victims. The substance is currently undergoing lab analysis. A distinctive back tattoo also helped confirm Warner’s identity.
The victim maintains he did not knowingly take any drugs and believes Warner used deception to gain access to his room and rob him.
Warner faces charges of burglary with assault or battery, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance. As of Thursday, she remains in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
