Police in Karur have arrested three men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last week at the house of senior advocate K Arumugam, aged 71. The men were apprehended after a swift investigation, and the stolen cash and gold ornaments were recovered.
According to police reports, the robbery took place on Friday night at around 9:15 PM. Three masked men armed with knives entered the house of K Arumugam, a well-known advocate practising in the Karur court. The robbers threatened and assaulted Arumugam before fleeing the scene with Rs 6 lakh in cash, a five-sovereign gold chain, a 1.5-sovereign gold chain, 50 grams of gold coins, and a Rado wristwatch.
Following the incident, Karur Superintendent of Police K Feroze Khan Abdulla formed special teams to investigate the case. On Sunday, police apprehended R Gandhi, 27, also an advocate, who was riding a two-wheeler suspiciously on the Trichy-Karur road. Further questioning revealed that Gandhi, along with his accomplices, A Prashanth, 23, and C Prashanth, 27, had planned and executed the robbery.
All three men were arrested, and the stolen items, along with the two-wheeler used during the robbery, were seized. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
