Operatives from the Owode Egba Police Division have apprehended two suspects, Agbo Jeremiah, 34, and Sunday Ngbuta, 29, for alleged vandalism and the theft of cable wires and iron rods in the Ogunmakin area of Owode Egba, Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested around 7pm on Monday after a tip-off from a driver transporting them and the stolen goods. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, stating that officers flagged down the vehicle based on the driver’s suspicions.

Earlier in the day, operatives from the Safer Highway had observed two individuals near Macpherson University carrying rolls of cable wires and iron rods. When they asked for assistance transporting the items, their request raised concerns that the items might be stolen.

The police stopped the vehicle at Ogunmakin’s overhead bridge after the driver signaled them. Upon questioning, the suspects could not provide satisfactory explanations about the stolen items.

The two men are currently under interrogation, and further investigation is ongoing.
