Mumbai police have arrested Chandrabhan Patel, a 36-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly stealing gold bars worth Rs2.40 crore from an office in Girgaon, South Mumbai. The theft came to light on December 18, when a 65-year-old businessman reported the crime at the V P Road Police Station.
According to the businessman’s complaint, the accused entered the office by breaking the main door and stole three gold bars, each weighing one kilogram, along with a certain amount of cash.
The investigation led the police to Chandrabhan Patel, who had been selling fabric in the CP Tank area. His involvement in the crime was confirmed, and he was subsequently arrested.
The police successfully recovered the stolen property, including the three gold bars, following Patel’s arrest. The investigation revealed that the theft was meticulously planned, and Patel’s swift action in selling the stolen items indicated a well-coordinated effort.
