Kochi: Police have arrested 19-year-old Satheesh Kumar from Madhura, Tamil Nadu, in connection with a hotel theft in Elamakkara. The incident, which took place on December 23, involved the theft of gold ornaments, a diamond necklace, and electronic gadgets from an unlocked hotel room.
According to police reports, the accused entered the room of a doctor from Alappuzha and fled with a laptop, iPhone, and jewelry. Authorities identified Satheesh Kumar using CCTV footage and fingerprint evidence recovered from the room.
The suspect was apprehended in Munnar on Sunday after receiving confidential information. Satheesh claimed to have sold the stolen electronics at a local shop in Munnar. He was produced in court on Monday and subsequently remanded.
Authorities continue to review security measures at local hotels amid a spate of theft incidents.
