Govind Nagar police have arrested five individuals in connection with the theft of mobiles, laptops, and watches valued at Rs 60 lakh. The accused are scheduled to be presented in court on Wednesday. Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for the team responsible for the successful operation.
The theft took place on December 7 at Neeraj Valecha’s Mobile Shop in Govind Nagar. CCTV footage from Operation Trinetra showed four youths carrying sacks and leaving in an auto. Using surveillance and tracking methods, police traced the suspects through Lucknow, Bihar, and Nepal. Govind Nagar police station in-charge Rikesh Singh, along with three teams, conducted searches for over 17 days before apprehending the accused in Govind Nagar.
Authorities recovered 113 high-end mobile phones from the suspects, identified as Mubeen from Motihari; Pramade, Mukesh, and Krishna from Nepal; and Shoeb from Bajriya. One suspect, Aslam alias Haddi from Motihari, remains at large.
Commissioner Raghubir Lal stated that the recovered phones are now in police custody and that the suspects are being questioned to trace any remaining stolen property. “If necessary, we will take them on remand to determine to whom they sold the phones,” he added.
