A Pune rural police team on Thursday arrested three brothers from Ahilyanagar district in connection with a robbery of Rs3.53 lakh in Daund taluka on June 11. Investigations revealed that the trio were involved in 19 recent burglaries across Pune district.
Police said five men had barged into the house of a local farmer, threatening the family with sharp knives and stealing gold jewellery and cash worth Rs3.53 lakh. A case of dacoity was registered with Daund police.
Assistant Police Inspector Kuldip Sankpal received a tip-off regarding the involvement of the three brothers. A trap was laid near Daund, leading to the arrest of Yogesh Bhosale (24), Sachin Bhosale (39), and Gahininath Bhosale (29), all residents of Karjat taluka, Ahilyanagar.
During questioning, the brothers admitted to involvement in 18 burglaries and a dacoity in Pune district since January. Police further revealed that the trio, along with 25 family members, were involved in 60 similar cases across multiple districts over the last six months. A search is ongoing for the remaining family members allegedly linked to these crimes.
The Pune rural police have assured that further investigations are underway to uncover the full network of burglaries and bring all involved parties to justice.
