Muhammad Khalid Bargat Arrested in Awantipora Sheep Theft

Five stolen sheep recovered, vehicle seized by J&K Police

Police in Awantipora have successfully solved a theft case by arresting an accused involved in stealing livestock and recovering the stolen property from his possession.

According to a statement issued by Jammu and Kashmir Police, Police Post Toll Plaza received a written complaint on January 15 from Nisar Ahmad Khanday, son of Ghulam Hassan Khanday, a resident of Chersoo. The complainant reported that unknown persons had stolen sheep from his cowshed during the intervening night of January 14 and 15.

Following the complaint, FIR No. 22/2026 was registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant provisions of law, and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, police employed modern investigative methods, including the examination and analysis of CCTV footage from various locations. These efforts led to the identification and arrest of Muhammad Khalid Bargat, a resident of Gondhawas Khass in Rajouri district.

During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. Based on his disclosure, police recovered five stolen sheep. In addition, the vehicle used in the commission of the offence, bearing registration number JK13G 6966, was also seized.

The accused is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
