In a major bust, the Electronics City police arrested six men from Andhra Pradesh for their involvement in a mobile phone theft on a moving bus. The arrests led to the recovery of 70 stolen mobile phones, a car, and a motorcycle — all valued at approximately Rs25 lakh.
The accused have been identified as:
Naganuri Kumar (20)
Sagar Sannakki (32)
Shivakumar (30)
Guddu Sab (36)
Halappa (29)
Shivashankar (20)
According to officials, the gang operated by targeting commuters on crowded intercity buses. Their method involved stealthily stealing phones while passengers were asleep or distracted.
Following the theft complaint, the police launched a focused investigation using technical surveillance and intelligence gathering. The breakthrough came when investigators traced the movement of the suspects through vehicle tracking and call data analysis.
The group was apprehended in a swift operation, and a cache of stolen items was recovered. The seized vehicles are believed to have been used for transporting the stolen devices and moving between states.
All six have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are in judicial custody while the investigation continues to determine if they’re linked to other thefts in the city.
