Police in Anambra State have successfully apprehended 18-year-old Anichede Akachukwu, also known as “Star B,” a notorious cult leader and leader of an armed robbery gang.
According to a statement from the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Akachukwu has been linked to a series of robberies in Asaba, Delta State, and Ogbaru in Anambra.
The suspect was arrested after being treated for a gunshot wound sustained during a shootout with police operatives. Akachukwu was located in Uruagu village, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, where he was receiving medical care.
Police investigations reveal that Akachukwu is the confessed leader of the Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and the armed gang responsible for terrorizing both Ogbaru LGA and Asaba. Following a tip-off, authorities were able to track him down while he was being treated in a hideout.
During the ongoing investigation, Akachukwu provided law enforcement with valuable information about his criminal operations and the identities of other gang members. This has significantly aided the police’s efforts in expanding their inquiry into the gang’s activities.
In a separate operation, the police recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep at Okija in Ihiala LGA, which is believed to have been used by secessionist groups. The vehicle was found to contain 27 pieces of live 7.62mm ammunition, three live cartridges, a torchlight, charms, and other incriminating items.
The police are continuing their efforts to track down remaining criminal elements in the region and are committed to reducing crime to the barest minimum. The Commissioner of Police has urged law enforcement officers to maintain their operations against criminal gangs with continued dedication.
