In a decisive strike against the narcotics trade, Aberdeen Police arrested two individuals during separate raids on April 30, seizing a significant quantity of methamphetamine and ganja in South Andaman.
The operations, led by Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO of PS Aberdeen, were based on specific intelligence and meticulously executed. The raids resulted in the seizure of 17.52 grams of methamphetamine and 1.5 kilograms of ganja.
In the first raid, police apprehended Zulfikar Khan (38), a street vendor residing at House No. 21, Round Basti. Officers recovered methamphetamine from his home during the operation.
In a separate raid in the Mazar Pahad area, police arrested Alapati Mani Raju (27), a diving instructor, with 1.5 kg of ganja in his possession. He is the son of Alapati Kota Satyanarayana and a resident of Mazar Pahad.
Both suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and police are currently investigating broader links in the region’s narcotics network.
The police team included Sub-Inspector Abhishek Haldar, Head Constable Sunil Singh Yadav, and Constables Jagdish Babu, Jayraj, Surender Singh Yadav, Reya Mondal, and C.H. Dhanalakshmi. The raids were conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman, and overall command of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police.
