The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of Zugen Jiang, a 28-year-old Brooklyn man, in connection with an elder fraud incident that occurred on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Hewlett, NY.

Detectives say a 90-year-old woman received a phone call from an unknown male posing as a representative of the Federal Trade Commission. The caller falsely claimed that her identity and Social Security number had been compromised and instructed her to withdraw and hand-deliver $10,000 in cash. The victim complied.

The next day, the scammer contacted her again, requesting more money. Realizing she had been defrauded, the victim immediately contacted the police.

Following a detailed investigation, Nassau County detectives identified and arrested Zugen Jiang without incident. He has been charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and will be arraigned on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

The Nassau County Police Department reminds residents to stay vigilant and encourages everyone to talk to elderly family members and neighbors about the risks of phone and identity scams.
