The Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of singer-composer Zubeen Garg has added a murder charge against the two prime accused in the case.
Special Director General of Police and SIT head Munna Prasad Gupta informed journalists on Thursday, October 2, 2025, that Section 103 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was added following the registration of the case against Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma.
Both accused were arrested in the National Capital Region (NCR) on October 1, with Shyamkanu Mahanta taken into custody after arriving from Singapore. The SIT continues its investigation into the high-profile case, which has drawn widespread attention across Assam and the country.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active and urged the public to await official updates.
