MILWAUKEE, WI – A tragic domestic violence incident has led to felony murder charges for 26-year-old Ziare Dalton, after a teen trying to intervene inadvertently shot and killed his mother.
According to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, near 15th and Cherry streets. Prosecutors said the teen opened fire with a rifle in an attempt to stop Dalton from assaulting his mother.
Court documents state that nine rifle casings were found at the scene. Both Dalton and the woman were struck by gunfire. Dalton survived after being taken to a hospital, but the woman – the teen’s mother – later died from her injuries.
Dalton is now charged with felony murder for his alleged role in initiating the chain of events that led to the fatal shooting. The case remains under investigation.
