Zhen Liang Ou and Aiqin Zheng Face Human Trafficking Charges in Alabaster Spa Case

Two spas risk license revocation amid prostitution and trafficking probe

ALABASTER, Ala. — Two local spas in Alabaster are at risk of losing their business licenses following a months-long investigation by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force into illegal activities.

The probe led to the arrest of three individuals on felony charges related to promoting prostitution. Among them, Zhen Liang Ou and Aiqin Zheng now face first-degree human trafficking charges and are being held without bond. The third suspect, Ting Ting Chen, remains charged with promoting prostitution in the second degree and was released on a $15,000 bond.

During the crackdown, Grace Spa was found closed with locked doors, while TRU Acupressure remained open. The owner of TRU Acupressure declined to comment on camera but denied knowledge of any illegal activities, pointing to posted signs prohibiting sexual services inside the spa.

Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force’s Clayton Smith expressed doubt over claims of ignorance, stating, “From our investigation, it is hard to believe any owner or employee did not know about these activities.”

The task force executed six search warrants earlier this month, including at the two Alabaster spas. Smith added that many complaints involved customers expecting legitimate massages but being propositioned for prostitution services.

Investigators also noted that some workers might have been hired illegally to perform sex acts. Details on whether participants were willing have not been disclosed.

The Alabaster City Council will hold public hearings on June 9 to decide on revoking the spas’ business licenses. Additionally, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will request the Chelsea City Council to revoke the license of Lily Massage, which was also part of the investigation.
