Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested the kingpin of an interstate drug syndicate accused of smuggling hybrid ganja into India through international cargo consignments routed via Mumbai and Delhi airports.

The accused, identified as Zamjith alias Samjhu (38), is a native of Kozhikode, Kerala, and was allegedly operating the smuggling network from Thailand, police said on Friday.

According to officials, three members of the same syndicate were arrested earlier in July this year, leading investigators to trace the main suspect. Zamjith’s arrest marks a major breakthrough in dismantling the international drug supply chain connected to multiple Indian states.

Further investigation is underway to identify associates and financial routes used in the smuggling operation.
