The Dharwad Rural Police have solved the murder case involving 21-year-old paramedical student Zakia Mulla, whose body was found near a dairy on Mansur Road, on the outskirts of Dharwad. The accused, identified as Sabir Mulla, has been arrested for allegedly killing her during a heated argument linked to their proposed marriage.
Zakia Mulla, a resident of Gandhi Chowk, had recently completed her paramedical studies and was actively seeking employment opportunities at the time of her death.
Investigators initially suspected that the murder may have taken place at a different location, with the body later dumped near the dairy in an attempt to mislead the police.
In a crucial development, police revealed that Sabir Mulla himself contacted the district superintendent of police to report the incident and remained at the scene while claiming ignorance. Officers said his unusual conduct immediately raised suspicion.
Following sustained interrogation, Sabir allegedly confessed to the crime, admitting that he strangled Zakia using her veil after an intense argument. Further investigation is underway to complete procedural formalities and gather additional evidence.
