In a significant move to curb drug trafficking, police in Baramulla arrested two men and recovered a heroin-like substance from their possession.
The police team from Police Station Tangmarg, led by SHO PS Tangmarg, intercepted a vehicle (Alto) with registration number JK04E-1076 at a checkpoint in Tangmarg. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 9 grams of heroin-like substance.
The arrested individuals were identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir from Chanapora, and Mudasir Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone from Treran. Both suspects were taken into custody at the police station, and the vehicle involved has been seized.
An FIR (No. 34/2025) has been registered under relevant laws, and further investigations are ongoing.
Police urge the community to assist in eradicating drug-related crimes by reporting suspicious activity at the nearest station or via emergency number 112. Authorities remain committed to safeguarding the community through strict enforcement.
