Zachery Keith Willis Arrested for Identity Theft in Auburn

Opelika man also charged with using forged check

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) — An Opelika man is facing multiple charges after Auburn police say he attempted to use a forged check in a fraudulent transaction.

24-year-old Zachery Keith Willis was arrested on Wednesday following a report of a forgery in progress near the 2800 block of East University Drive.

According to authorities, a local business alerted police when Willis allegedly tried to use a forged check to conduct a transaction. Officers arrived as Willis was leaving the area and quickly detained him.

Following an investigation, Willis was charged with identity theft and third-degree possession of a forged instrument.

He was booked into the Lee County Jail, where he is being held on a $6,500 bond.
