Zachary Layne Arrested After Violent Assault and Auto Theft in Henderson

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — Zachary Layne was arrested on multiple charges following a violent incident in Henderson on Wednesday evening.

According to the Henderson Police Department (HPD), officers responded to a home on Akin Drive at approximately 6:25 p.m. after Layne allegedly took a woman’s car without her permission. After returning without the vehicle, Layne is accused of assaulting the woman. Witnesses reported that Layne struck the woman, dragged her by her hoodie, and attempted to strangle her while she was unconscious.

Layne fled the scene but was apprehended later that evening. HPD confirmed that he was intoxicated and uncooperative during the arrest.

Layne now faces a range of charges, including assault, strangulation, terroristic threatening, auto theft, and public intoxication. Additionally, he was arrested on an active complaint warrant from April 2024 and two failure-to-appear warrants.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather information related to the case.
