COLUMBIA, Mo. — A Holts Summit man is being held without bond after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour, according to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were searching Saturday night for a reported stolen truck last seen on State Road OO west of Holts Summit. The vehicle was later located on County Road 4031 east of the city. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting a pursuit across several county roads.
Authorities identified the driver as 33-year-old Zachary Ryan Fewins. Deputies said the chase continued along Highway 94 and Highway 63, with Fewins allegedly driving at extreme speeds.
Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit, including the Columbia Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Law enforcement deployed spike strips and eventually used a tactical vehicle intervention, or PIT maneuver, to bring the chase to an end.
After the truck was stopped, Fewins initially refused to exit the vehicle but later complied with officers. He was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked into custody.
Deputies said a stolen pistol was recovered from inside the truck.
Fewins was arrested Sunday and charged with stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, armed criminal action, first-degree trespassing, and three counts of second-degree harassment. He is currently being held in the Callaway County Jail without bond.
Court records indicate Fewins has prior felony charges in Callaway and Cole counties involving resisting arrest, vehicle theft, and trespassing.
