KOTA KINABALU — The prosecution has officially closed its case against silat instructor Yuslainie Ag Yusuf, 29, who is accused of committing sexual offences against his 15-year-old female student.
Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim has scheduled October 30 for clarification following the conclusion of the prosecution’s presentation of evidence.
Yuslainie stands accused of hugging and fondling the victim’s breasts on August 26, 2023, in Putatan, a charge he has denied since the outset.
He is charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act.
If found guilty under Section 14(a), Yuslainie faces up to 20 years in prison and a possible fine. Section 16(1) additionally provides for a prison sentence of up to five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane.
The upcoming hearing on October 30 will determine whether the case proceeds to the defence stage or results in a discharge.
