YouTuber Angryginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, was arrested on suspicion of causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to a classic Formula 1 car at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old streamer was livestreaming alongside fellow YouTubers Chazza (Charlie Clark) and SamHam (Samuel Imie) when police intervened. Earlier in the day, the group had filmed themselves laughing as Chazza attempted to squeeze into the cockpit of an F1 car on display at the event.
Northamptonshire Police confirmed that three men aged 23, 25, and 27 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to a vehicle but were later released without further action.
In a vlog posted on Monday, Angryginge shared that he and the others were held in custody overnight for 15 hours. He denied causing any damage and described the experience as “genuinely traumatising.” Despite being released without charges, Angryginge was banned from returning to Silverstone for the remainder of the event following a trespass notice issued due to “anti-social behaviour,” confirmed by a Silverstone spokesperson.
Police estimated that the damage, thought to have resulted from someone accessing the display stand and climbing into the car, would cost several thousand pounds to repair.
Separately, Northamptonshire Police appealed for information regarding the theft of a steering wheel from another car on display at the British Grand Prix. The missing wheel was reported around 14:30 BST, and officers released an image of a suspect they wished to speak to.
Over the four-day event, about half a million people attended, and police recorded 34 crimes, leading to 20 arrests for various offenses including theft, criminal damage, assault, and drug possession.
