Youseph Mejias Charged in Albany Shooting

Mechanicville man faces attempted murder charge

ALBANY, N.Y. — Youseph Mejias, 24, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that occurred last October on Washington Avenue in Albany.

According to Albany police, officers initially discovered evidence of gunfire at the scene but did not locate a victim. Shortly afterward, a 24-year-old man arrived at Albany Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Following an investigation, Mejias was taken into custody Wednesday morning at a residence in Mechanicville after a police search.

In addition to attempted murder, Mejias faces a charge of criminal possession of a weapon. He has been remanded to the Albany County Jail.
