MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — A man was arrested after deputies say he went on a retail theft spree across multiple stores in Miami-Dade County on Tuesday.
Yordan Prats-Piloto, 42, now faces several charges, including third-degree grand theft and use of an anti-shoplifting device, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
At around 12:30 p.m., Prats-Piloto was seen entering a Burlington off South Dixie Highway, selecting several items and hiding them in his shorts before walking out. A witness confirmed that he left in a vehicle and headed to another retail location.
Roughly 30 minutes later, he entered a Ross store and used the same tactic to steal merchandise valued at $406.43, according to an arrest report.
By 1:45 p.m., Prats-Piloto had arrived at a second Burlington at 8881 SW 107th Ave., where he again shoplifted, this time taking five items before being apprehended in the parking lot while inside his vehicle.
A search of his car revealed a metal magnet device used to disable anti-theft tags and a trash bag filled with stolen Burlington merchandise, worth $1,333.40, from a previous theft.
Prats-Piloto was arrested on the spot and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without further incident.
