In a major breakthrough, Pune rural police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of Lakhan Kisanrao Salgar, a 24-year-old driver from Takli Dhoki in Dharashiv district. The crime took place on June 27 near the Bhuleshwar temple in the Daund area.
Authorities had initially discovered a half-burned male body with injuries to the head, chest, and back, but were unable to identify the victim. Cross-referencing missing person complaints led investigators to Lakhan Salgar, confirmed through technical analysis.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Yogesh Padalkar (25)
Rajashree Padalkar (23) – a relative and reportedly involved in an illicit affair with the deceased
Vikas Korade (21)
Shubham Umesh Waghmode (22)
Kakasaheb Kalidas Mote (42)
According to SDPO Bapurao Dadas, Yogesh Padalkar, enraged by the affair between his relative Rajashree and Lakhan, plotted the murder with the help of his brother-in-law and friends. They lured Salgar to a remote location, attacked him with an axe, and tried to burn the body with inflammable chemicals to destroy evidence.
Senior Police Inspector Narayan Deshmukh of Yavat Police Station added that familial ties were involved, and further interrogation of the suspects is underway to uncover deeper connections and motives.
