The Yerawada Police, led by Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, successfully arrested three individuals in connection with a robbery case following a swift response and strategic action. The incident occurred when a police team on night patrol received a tip-off about suspicious individuals robbing passersby on Sangamwadi Road on February 17, 2025.
Acting promptly on the information, Police Sub-Inspector Pradeep Surve and his surveillance team apprehended the suspects just as they attempted to flee the area. The arrested suspects have been identified as Asif Azgar Sheikh (32), Kuldeep Singh Yuvraj Singh Juni (23), and Makkhansingh Lakhansingh Juni (32), all residents of Patil Estate, Shivaji Nagar, Pune.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to a series of thefts in the Yerwada area, including an incident where they snatched a gold chain from a victim’s neck. As a result, an FIR (No. 131/2025) was filed under sections 309(4), 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code at Yerwada Police Station.
In police custody, the suspects disclosed that they had used an auto-rickshaw to carry out the thefts. Authorities seized stolen goods worth approximately Rs1,75,000, including a gold chain valued at Rs75,000 and the auto-rickshaw, worth Rs1,00,000.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Pune City Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Police Commissioner Himmat Jadhav, and Assistant Police Commissioner Pranjali Sonawane. Key players in the successful operation included Inspector Pallavi Meher, Inspector Swati Khedkar, and other officers from the surveillance and investigation teams.
Further investigation is underway, with the police looking into the suspects’ possible involvement in other criminal activities in the region.
