Police investigating a report of a “known repeat theft suspect” at the Hudson Walmart in mid-December arrested 28-year-old Yasin Shearin of Staten Island, New York, after uncovering evidence of both a prior theft and an attempted theft on the same evening.
Authorities said Shearin initially provided inconsistent identifying information and was unable to verify his identity. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly resisted and fled on foot across Lowell Road toward Sam’s Club and McDonald’s, where he was ultimately apprehended.
A follow-up investigation, including fingerprint analysis, confirmed Shearin’s identity and revealed his alleged involvement in a large-scale retail theft operation targeting over-the-counter medications.
Shearin faces multiple charges, including:
Receiving stolen property (Class A felony)
Organized retail crime enterprise (Class B felony)
Theft by unauthorized taking (Class B felony)
Willful concealment (Class A misdemeanor)
Resisting arrest (Class A misdemeanor)
Obstruction of government administration (Class A misdemeanor)
Authorities continue to investigate the scope of the alleged theft operation.
