Kadri police have arrested two young men in connection with the theft of a locker containing Rs 3.33 lakh cash from a nutrition product store in Kodialbail. The accused have been identified as 19-year-old Yashwanth Naik from Kadur, Chikkamagaluru, currently living in Mallikatte, and 19-year-old Niroop, also known as Shravan, a resident of Labour Colony, Shaktinagar.
Yashwanth was employed as a daytime security guard at the store, while Niroop had previously worked there but resigned some time ago.
On the night of June 28, the store staff had locked the shop after placing the day’s collection of Rs 3,33,030 inside a locker. However, on the morning of June 30, they found the shop’s shutter lock open and the locker missing. A complaint was immediately filed at the Kadri police station.
Investigations revealed that a key to the shop’s shutter had gone missing a few days before the theft, and police suspect the same key was used in the crime. After questioning, both suspects confessed to the robbery. Police successfully recovered the stolen locker, the cash inside, and the motorcycle used to carry out the theft.
